Turkey’s stainless steel imports grow in Jan

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s stainless steel flat-rolled products imports totaled around 546,000 tons in the first three quarters of this year, rising by 26% compared to the same period a year ago. The increase was due to higher imports from China for its competitive prices.

During the period, the import value hiked by 45% year on year to USD 1.15bn, mainly due to the increasing steel prices in the global steel market.

Among them, the imports from China accounted for the largest proportion, totaling around 210,000 tons, up by nearly 91% year on year. South Korea ranked second with 122,000 tons, followed by Spain’s 33,100 tons, Italy’s 31,000 tons, and Taiwan’s 29,000 tons.
